OPTICAL
FIBRES CONNECTIONS
The
optical fibre is a relatively recent innovation, which quickly has taken
a major role in the telecommunications world, thanks to its capacity
to transmit a great number of information over a long distance. LEGRAND
Company early took interest in this technology which needs great care
during installation (the optical fibre does not bear torsions).
By this way, we have been collaborating with Câbles Pirelli Company
since 1994 for the TITUS process experimentation (simultaneous laying-out
of a HDPE -High Density Polyethylene- tube with optical fibre).
Since
June 2001, LEGRAND makes the porterage, as well as the connection and
control of putting into service optical fibre cables.
After connecting, a reflectometry test gives the values of each splice and the global results allowing to deliver a conform and turnkey installation (including studies and application).
