Legrand
Company was founded in 1956 by René Legrand and his wife,
and quickly developed in the railway civil engineering, ironwork,
and signalling fields.
The first works for the SNCF (French Railways Network) consisted
in the building and installation of pylons, lightening, cables laying,
electrification, etc
Legrand then chose to diversify its customers:
France Telecom since 1970, EDF (French Electricity Network) since
1992, as well as its activities: Metal Construction Department since
1981, Staking Research Department since 1990, optical fibres networks
installation since 1992, telecommunication networks engineering
since 2000.
LEGRAND SA has been directly associated to numerous great infrastructures
which marked the second half of the 20iest century: development
of the railway network (electrification; equipment of new TGV -High
Speed Train- lines: Paris-Lyon, Atlantique, Méditerranée;
building of railway stations-La Plaine Stade de France-, schools,
numerous structures -footbridges over rivers and motorways, noise
abatement walls-).
The company has always been in the forefront of innovation in several
fields (computerization in 1973, creation of mechanized cables laying
machines in 1978, conception and patent of prefabricated drawing
and connection pits in 1985, robotization of the production in 1991,
creation of a spatial structure for long spans in 2001). The efficiency
in quality allowed us to obtain the ISO 9001 Version 2000
certification.
